As the country joins the rest of the world in celebrating Christmas President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that significant progress will be made in the implementation of his agenda for national transformation in the coming year.

Jonathan in his Christmas message to the nation also assured that under his leadership, the federal government will continue to work diligently to give full effect to its plans to redirect national resources from wasteful and unproductive areas to identified priority sectors including infrastructure, power supply, job creation, education, agriculture, health and social services.

While  wishing all Nigerians a merry Christmas, the President seized the opportunity Nigerians who continue to keep faith with his administration as it strives to fulfill its promise of national transformation.

The President according to a statement by his media aide, Dr. Reuben Abati will continue to count on the support, cooperation and goodwill of all Nigerians as the administration strives to quicken the pace of development across the country.

In this regard, he urged Nigerians to reflect on the themes of piety, love, honesty, patience, humility, selflessness and sacrifice for the good of all which dominate Biblical accounts of Christ’s mission on earth in the belief that the country will make faster progress towards the fulfillment of its immense potentials if more of its citizens imbibe these virtues, and to apply them constantly in the service of the nation and in their daily lives.

Also, Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo rejoices with the Christian community and all Nigerians on the occasion of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Vice President enjoined all citizens to be steadfast, prayerful and to have the fear of God in their minds.
He also enjoined the citizens to be security conscious and drive safely as the country needs all of us to contribute our quota towards our intended destination. He called on the citizenry to appreciate the significance of this festive period by imbibing the teachings and practices of Jesus Christ.

He said citizens to continue should live in peace and harmony and to emulate the virtues and exemplary life bequeathed to us by Jesus Christ for the good of all.

The Vice President appreciated  Nigerians for their support for the administration.
He further urged all  law-abiding citizens to continue to support the transformation agenda as it is the surest way to the Promised Land.
