A 14-year-old Detroit boy allegedly shot his mother to death, while she slept because she refused to let him hang out with friends who were in a gang.
Tamiko Robinson, 36, was sleeping on the coach in a room next to her fiancĂ© and 5-year-old daughter Monday, when she was shot several times. Her son, according to Fox 2, is being held in custody after trying to flee the scene in his mother’s car.
The boy who according to the Daily Mail, was on the swim team at his High School in East Detroit, was reportedly angry that his mother wanted to keep him off the streets and away from a local gang.
“He broke into his step dad’s room, got a 12 gauge and brutally murdered my sister,” his uncle LeShaun Roberts said. “He shot at least 10 times.”
Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and Detroit Police Chief Ralph L. Godbee Jr., held a press conference to address Robinson’s shooting and other Detroit incidents of gun violence involving minors Monday. Earlier that day a 6-year-old boy was also shot in an attempted carjacking, with police saying the two suspects being held in custody for the shooting are also teenage boys.
