According to the AFP; a large bomb exploded near a church in the city of Kaduna as Easter Sunday services were being held this morning.
Residents suggested the explosion was caused by a car bomb parked outside the church, in a stark reminder of Christmas Day attacks in Nigeria that left dozens dead.
Cruise Nigeria can now confirm to you that the same bomb has killed at least 20 people and was triggered by two cars packed with explosives.
A rescue official on the scene revealed on conditions of anonymity; “Now we have 20 dead from the twin explosions,” said the official who was not authorised to speak publicly. “Bombs concealed in two cars went off just opposite this church.”
The blast happened as the United Kingdom and the United States had warned its citizens living in the oil-rich nation that violence was likely over the Easter holiday. Nigeria’s weak central government is under increasing attack from a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram.
