Nigeria’s sensational hip-hop duo, P-Square, who reportedly had a new single, “Alingo” leaked on the internet few days ago, have been accused by music fans across the country of stealing intellectual work.
Some fans took to Twitter tagging the song a mimic of “Shake your Bum”, a hit song by songwriter/singer, Timaya.
Some of Timaya’s fans who expressed their disappointments over the resemblance of the beat and rhythm of both songs, tweeted; “Listening 2 P-squares new song Alingo, @PeterPsquare dis a copy of @timayatimaya shake ur bum bum”
“Psquare trying to sing like @timayatimaya”
“Psquare Just Photocopied @timayatimaya’s Shake Ur Bum Bum…Smh”
Timaya’s song, “Shake your bum” was first released on the 20th of January while P-Square’s “Alingo” was released on Wednesday
This is not the first time the duo have been accused of stealing other musicians intellectual work. In 2009, the twins were accused of using Blackface’s “Erema” for their hit track “Do me”. Then in 2011, actress, Steph Nora, revealed that the beat which was used for “Jeje”, a track on their “Invasion” album, was stolen from her, after she had sent a sample to their elder brother/producer
