Cruise Nigeria can confirm that the State Government, yesterday, commenced the demolition of the state secretariat complex amid controversies over the award of the N13.6 billion contract.
As early as 7am bulldozers belonging to Arab Contractors Construction Company were moved into the Secretariat complex and the contractors began to pull down the buildings housing some state ministries.
Among the buildings being demolished on the first day of the exercise were those of ministries of Agriculture, Commerce and Industry and Justice.
This is even as the Mountain of Fire Ministry has dragged Governor Sullivan Chime to court over his directive to Enugu Capital Territory Development Agency, ECTDA, to demolish its regional headquarters located along Zik Avenue, Uwani, Enugu.
In a suit filed by its counsel,Ikeazor Akaraiwe, and supported by a 16-paragraph
affidavit deposed to by Pastor Kennedy Udogaranya, the church sought among other reliefs: an interlocutory injunction restraining Governor Chime, by himself, assigns or agents from demolishing the church building as stated by the Governor and alter ego of the defendant/respondent on Monday September 17, 2012 when he visited the said building
